WELCOME BACK WADE

EDMONTON, AB – Although he did compete in a special “Old-timers” exhibition race in 2015, nearly a decade has gone by since Wade Fleming was behind the wheel of an open wheel ‘360’ Sprint Car.  Saturday night, the eight-time track champion returned to action at Castrol Raceway for the first-time since August 29, 2009.  “There are some things you miss and you really didn’t know you missed it till you try it again.  This is one of those things.”

FLEMING: EIGHT-TIME CASTROL RACEWAY TRACK CHAMPION

The Ardrossan, Alberta driver kicked off the night by qualifying 10th.  Fleming then went out and won his heat race.  In the Feature, Fleming drove the Northern Provincial Pipelines Ltd./Boychuk Ventures #7 Sprint Car to a 9th place finish.  “I feel pretty good about this.  It wasn’t about how well I was going to do tonight it was who was I going to be.  It’s been awhile since I’ve been behind the wheel.”  The 25 lap Feature saw only 1 yellow flag for a late race spin.  “Am I the same person I was 10 years ago?  I can definitely say no because after 12 laps I was tired.”  Fleming has now registered 61 Heat race wins and currently has 49 Feature event wins at the Edmonton, Alberta track.  “It was more fun to come out here tonight.  All my kids are grown up now and part of my crew.  My wife can now come into the pits.  It’s time to do this racing thing as a family.”  Fleming is already looking forward to the next race.  “We have 10 of these shows (ASA Sprint Car Series) to run this year.  Maybe we’ll race 12 if I run the Xtreme Cup race, however family will come first.”  Next race for Wade Fleming and the Team NPP #7 Sprint Car is Friday, June 8th at Edmonton’s Castrol Raceway.
