THE SOUND OF RACING
ROCHESTER, WA – Darrell Midgley and Brandon Carlson head to South Sound Speedway this weekend for a Northwest Super Late Model Series race. The Weather Guard Roofing/Kennedy Classic 200 (formerly Miller 200) runs Saturday, August 1st. Back in June, Carlson became just the second Canadian to win a NSLMS race when he took the checkered flag at Saratoga Speedway. The Victoria, British Columbia driver enters the race weekend 5th in the 2026 championship point standings. Darrell Midgley sits 14th in the Northwest Super Late Model Series point standings after his 8th place Saratoga Speedway finish.

Midgley has more than a dozen starts at South Sound Speedway dating back to the 1980’s which includes two wins in the Pro Stock class. In his last two Super Late Model appearances at South Speedway (August 3, 2024/May 10, 2025) the Sidney, British Columbia driver has back-to-back 7th place finishes. Carlson meanwhile had his best ever finish at South Sound Speedway on July 25, 2025 finishing 5th in the Super Late Model Feature. He was racing his own SLM this particular race night. Ironically his Super Late Model is now the designated Team NPP back-up car. The Weather Guard Roofing/Kennedy Classic 200 pays $5,000 to win. Northern Provincial Pipelines and Team NPP owner Dwight Kennedy is co-sponsoring the race weekend. Kennedy added $8,000 in bonus money to leaders of lap 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, 175 and 199.
