EDSON, AB – Back-to-back race weekends in the province of British Columbia produced polar opposite results for two Team NPP drivers at two different tracks.  Sidney, BC’s Darrell Midgley competed September 4th and 5th at Saratoga Speedway and the Reg Midgley Canada 200 event.  Edson, AB’s Josh Shuflada raced at Rocky Mountain Speedway on September 12th and 13th for their season wrap-up/championship weekend.

Darrell Midgley, the 1998 and 1999 Canada 200 winner, was debuting a brand new pavement Late Model at the Black Creek, British Columbia facility. Midgley hoped to improve on his 15th place finish at last year’s Canada 200 race at Saratoga Speedway. During several Thursday evening practice sessions, the new car ran decent for the Sidney, British Columbia driver. Day 1 of the Reg Midgley Canada 200 event saw shower activity limit on-track practice. Official qualifying was unfortunately cut short. Weather conditions did improve for race day Saturday. Although Midgley would start 16th for the Canada 200, he was fifth fastest in early afternoon practice setting the stage for the potential of a decent finish. Midgley began his march to the front early gaining several positions in the opening laps. By Lap 25 he was running 12th. This would be the high point of the Canada 200 for Midgley.

At the start of Lap 47 thick blue smoke came pouring out the exhaust pipe of the Northern Provincial Pipelines/Alien Race Cars #81 Dodge. The engine had expired forcing Darrell Midgley to retire from the Canada 200 race. He was credited with a 21st place finish in the Saturday night Feature at Saratoga Speedway.

For the first time since June, Josh Shuflada found himself behind the wheel of his Northern Provincial Pipelines/RCE Enterprises #81 Super Stock at Rocky Mountain Speedway. A busy work schedule prevented him from running a full dirt track schedule in 2026. His absence did not affect his on-track performance. The Valemount, British Columbia track was running its last race weekend of the season. Northern Provincial Pipelines was event sponsor so an appearance by the defending season champion was guaranteed.

Shuflada kicked off the race weekend on Saturday with a second place finish in his Heat race. He duplicated that result in the Saturday afternoon Feature. Dry slick track conditions greeted all race teams Sunday. Shuflada began his race day with a Heat race win. The Feature event was hard fought. Just 3 cautions would wave in the Feature. Shuflada wrapped up his weekend with another second place finish. Brad Warner (Clearwater, BC) and Greg Sorenson (Clearwater, BC) were the Saturday and Sunday Feature winners.

Shuflada took top points for the weekend with his back-to-back second place Feature finishes. Team NPP congratulates Brad Warner on his 2026 Rocky Mountain Speedway Season Championship. Shuflada finished the season 4th in Super Stock points in Valemount.
