TURKEY TIME IN TUCSON

TUCSON, AZ – As the American Thanksgiving Holiday wraps up, Tucson Speedway hosts their 4th annual Turkey Shoot 125 Super Late Model race this weekend.  Team NPP and Canada’s Darrell Midgley are ready for another battle in the Copper State.  Midgley has not missed a single Turkey Shoot event in the Northern Provincial Pipelines Ltd./Alien Race Cars #81 Dodge.  “We are basically ready to go,” exclaims the Sidney, BC driver, “we rolled it in the trailer with no damage (from the last race).  We will do some maintenance and be ready to race.”  On October 27th, Midgley ran 2nd and 3rd for more than half the Feature at Tucson Speedway.  He would end up crossing the finish line in 6th when the checkered flag flew.  “There are a couple body chassis adjustments that we will be doing.  We want to tweak it and tighten up the car a bit so it stays more consistent.  We want to be there at the end.”

MIDGLEY CHALLENGES FOR RACE LEAD AT TUCSON SPEEDWAY

The popularity of the Turkey Shoot event among Super Late Model teams has forced track officials to expand the race weekend.  A full day of practice on Friday is being replaced by a shortened practice session, then qualifying, then a 50-lap Super Late Model shootout.  “We are pretty excited about this extra day of racing,” exclaims Midgley, “way more bang for your (entry fee) buck.” Midgley is not concerned about the loss of on-track practice time either.  “There is nothing like real world conditions to know what you have.  To go out and there and do consecutive laps of practice is not realistic.  To get out and race is a better situation.”  Midgley has an average Turkey Shoot finish of 12.75.  His best finish came at the inaugural Turkey Shoot event back in 2015 where he finished 8th.  The 2018 Turkey Shoot 125 runs Saturday, November 24th.
