SCHEDULE FINALIZED

EDMONTON, AB – The 2015 race schedule of the Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series has been finalized. “We were originally aiming for a 12 event season,” says NPP Late Model Series announcer Gord Craig, “right now we have 9 confirmed dates.” Edmonton, Alberta’s Castrol Raceway will host the NPP Late Model Series a total of five times in 2015. Central Alberta Raceway’s in Rimbey will see four appearances. “Our season opens up in Edmonton on May 23rd,” says Craig, “this will be the seventeenth consecutive season that NPP Late Model action is scheduled for the Edmonton track.” The NPP Late Model made its Edmonton debut at the 1999 Gold Cup. “We’ve been the support class at the Gold Cup open wheel Sprint Car event ever since and will be again this year.” The Gold Cup runs July 3rd and 4th. The Race of Champions/Legends of NASCAR event returns to Edmonton for the third straight year in 2015. “I can confirm that two-time Daytona 500 Champion Michael Waltrip is one of the drivers that will be back to compete in a NPP Late Model on Friday, July 24th.” Past NASCAR stars that have competed in the Race of Champions with the NPP Series include Sterling Marlin, Ken Schrader, Dave Blaney and Kenny Wallace.

NPP LATE MODEL RACING IN EDMONTON SINCE 1999

Central Alberta Raceway’s will see four appearances by the NPP Late Model Series in 2015. “We have two, two-day shows scheduled for Rimbey this year including our season championship weekend on September 11th and 12th.” This is the second consecutive season that the NPP Series Champion weekend will be held in Rimbey, Alberta. “There is always plenty of action when we race in Rimbey. It certainly was a wild two-day championship weekend last year.”

2 WEEKENDS / 4 RACES IN RIMBEY, ALBERTA THIS SEASON

The tentative race dates for the September long weekend at Bridge County Raceway in Lethbridge, Alberta have unfortunately been removed from the schedule. “This easily is the biggest disappointment of the off-season,” notes Craig, “things were looking good for a return to Southern Alberta. Positive news emerged regarding potential investors wanting to revitalize the racing scene in the Lethbridge area. Here’s hoping we’ll still see something develop from this.” Bridge County Raceway closed its doors at the end of the 2011 season.

LETHBRIDGE WILL BE DARK AGAIN IN 2015
