RULEBOOK REVIEW

EDMONTON, AB – Changes are coming to the Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series.  The official rulebook of the NPP Late Model Series is undergoing a major review. “The last major change (carburetor rule) was back in 2008,” says NPP Series announcer Gord Craig, “needless to say the current rulebook is a little stale and is in need of a major refresh.”

Some of the anticipated changes to the NPP Late Model Series rulebook will attempt to address the rising costs of racing.  “We’ve been reaching out to drivers asking for input,” says Craig, “so far the common theme of discussion has been engines, tires and suspension.”  Shawn Kennedy is one NPP Series driver that is welcoming a revamped rulebook.  “The rulebook is very old.  I’ve submitted a lot of suggestions to make the cars more consistent, safer and perform better.”

The Edson, Alberta driver won the last scheduled NPP Series Feature event on September 25th, 2016 at Central Alberta Raceways.  There were no NPP Series events run last year.  The 2017 season was cancelled by NPP Series officials due to a low car count.

CAR COUNT WAS NOT A PROBLEM 5 YEARS AGO

“This class still has the potential to be something that really stands out,” admits Kennedy, “there are ways to shed costs that the Series should be allowing.”  Consultations will continue with race teams for the remainder of January.  A revised NPP Series rulebook is anticipated sometime in February.  NPP Series officials continue to work on a tentative 2018 race schedule.
