MODIFIED REPORTS – #81 ZERBIN
COTTAGE GROVE, OR (July 4) – Close to 25 Modifieds packed the pits for Night #1 of the 2019 Freedom Cup at Cottage Grove Speedway.  Lane Zerbin kicked off the night qualifying 7th in the Northern Provincial Pipelines Ltd./C-Force Marine #81 Modified.  Heat race action saw the Victoria, British Columbia driver making his way up to second.  With just a few laps to go, Zerbin spun and would finish his Heat in 5th.  Despite the late race spin, Zerbin still locked himself into the Thursday night ‘A’ Feature event.  The caution filled 25-lap Feature unfortunately was over for Zerbin before 5 laps were even completed.  While running 10th, Zerbin jumped the cushion of the oval track and clipped the retaining wall with the rear of his race car.  The damage was too severe to continue.  Zerbin was credited with a 19th place finish.

COTTAGE GROVE, OR (July 5) – There were some positives for Lane Zerbin to take away from Night #2 of the 2019 Freedom Cup.  Overall though, a frustrating Friday night for the Victoria, British Columbia driver.  Zerbin began his night qualifying 19th at Cottage Grove Speedway.  Early in his Heat race, the driver of the Northern Provincial Pipelines/C-Force Marine #81 Modified saw opportunity and took over the race lead.  The lead was short lived.  Zerbin jumped the track’s cushion breaking the bead on his front right tire.  Zerbin finished 7th in his Heat and was forced to run the ‘B’ Feature.  The highlight of the night was winning the ‘B’ Feature.  The win automatically transferred Zerbin to the back of the ‘A’ Feature event.

Just a few laps into the Friday night Feature, Zerbin found himself with a damaged Modified.  Zerbin had nowhere to go as two cars spun in from of him.  Zerbin continued on in the Feature with a damaged race car.  Attempts to crack into the top 10 were hampered by an ill handling car.  When the checkered flag flew, Zerbin was 17th.

BREAKING NEWS (July 6) – Lane Zerbin will be skipping the final night of the 2019 Freedom Cup in Oregon.  Zerbin will drive 4 hours north to Washington State and will compete at Grays Harbor Raceway on Saturday night.

—————————————-

ELMA, WA (July 6) – Lane Zerbin wrapped up his three-day American road trip in Washington State  on Saturday night.  A last minute change of tracks did not halt his recent string of bad racing luck.  The Victoria, British Columbia driver got caught up in a multi-vehicle crash on Lap 12 of the 20 Lap Modified Feature at Grays Harbor Raceway.  Zerbin was the middle car in a three-wide pack that came together.  Zerbin then got tagged from behind by another car.  Having the second fastest car on the track during the Saturday night Feature was the only positive of the night.  Zerbin was credited with a 15th place finish in the Northern Provincial Pipelines Ltd./C-Force Marine #81 Modified.
