NPP SERIES TO RACE ALONGSIDE OUTLAWS

EDMONTON, AB (February 2) – The Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series is proud to announce that it will be part of the inaugural Oil City Cup at Edmonton’s Castrol Raceway this summer.  This major motorsport event will feature the stars of the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series.  “To be a part of this history making race event on August 17th and 18th is a huge honor and privilege for all the N.P.P. Series teams,” says tour announcer Gord Craig, “most of our Late Model Stock Car drivers are Sprint Car fans too.  So it won’t surprise me to see a few extra cameras in the pits as teams try to get pictures of their favorite drivers.”  The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series was formed in 1978.  The Outlaw series last raced on Canadian soil back in 1982.  “They (Outlaws) have been racing for close to 30 years,” adds Craig, “on the other hand the N.P.P. Late Model Series is really still in its infancy.  2007 will be only our seventh full season of racing. T his by far will be the biggest race event the NPP Late Model Series has been apart of.”  The excitement is already building for the 2007 Oil City Cup.  “This will be a great day for motorsports,” exclaims Dwight Kennedy, the 2006 NPP Late Model Series Champion, “how can you not get excited when drivers like Danny Lasoski, Donny Schatz and Steve Kinser are coming to town.  It’s going to be quite the show.  The race fans will be the big winner’s that’s for sure.”  Both Series’ (NPP & Outlaws) will be just past the midpoint of their respective seasons when the August race weekend rolls around.  That means the points chases will be heating up when race teams from both series invade Edmonton’s Castrol Raceway.
