NPP SERIES RISES TO NEW HEIGHTS

EDMONTON, AB – Next time you are in Edmonton, Alberta and you turn on the radio, you just might hear the tour announcer for the Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series talking about an accident on Yellowhead Trail or indicate there is a slow down on Whitemud Drive due to construction. NPP Series announcer Gord Craig has been hired on by the Canadian Traffic Network as a relief traffic reporter.

“The phone call came right out of the blue,” indicates Craig, “it’s just a fill in position, mornings only. Start at 6am and off the air before 9am.” Craig says there is opportunity for exposure for the NPP Series given the uniqueness of the situation. “The radio station hosts know I am heavily involved in the racing scene. A motorsports announcer giving traffic reports is pretty good morning show material.” CTN currently provides traffic updates to seven Edmonton radio stations. “The NPP Series is now in the process of securing some advertising time with CTN. The Oilmen’s Invitational in August is one event that we do want to have advertised to Edmonton listeners.” Craig recently took a helicopter flight over Castrol Raceway and managed to take a few pictures of the NPP Late Model Series home track.

“It’s a pretty neat perk being able to go up in a helicopter and stare down at a track I have announced at the past 17 seasons.” The Northern Provicinal Pipelines Late Model Series next event is Friday, June 19th at Edmonton’s Castrol Raceway. The Series then races in Southern Alberta for the second time this season. Rocky Mountain Raceway Park south of Calgary (near Okotoks) plays host to the NPP Series on Saturday, June 20th.
