NPP CHAMP IN ARIZONA

TUCSON, AZ – Darrell Midgley will be flying the Canadian flag in the Northern Provincial Pipelines #81 Dodge in Arizona this weekend. The Sidney, British Columbia driver is competing in the Turkey Shoot 125 Super Late Model race at Tucson Speedway Friday and Saturday, November 27th and 28th. “It’s a nice track. Good people here too that’s why we are back.” The veteran racer made his Tucson, Arizona debut at the Chilly Willy 100 back in February and finished 22nd. “We were running 8th in this race but got taken out near the end. We probably had a Top 5 car. For never running here before I was pretty happy with how we performed. Hopefully this time we can finish near the front.” The 2015 NPP Late Model Series Champion is coming off a 12th place finish on “The Bullring” at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last month. “We are racing the same car we raced in Vegas. The car did get banged up a bit [in Las Vegas] but it’s all repaired now and ready to go.”

DARRELL MIDGLEY RACED IN LAS VEGAS OCTOBER 23RD/24TH

Several of the teams he competed against in Las Vegas are expected to be in the pits for the Tucson show. “I haven’t seen an entry list yet but I probably will be the only Canadian in the field.” With snow on the ground in many parts of Canada Midgley enjoys the opportunity to race south of the border. “Anytime you can escape the colder temperatures is a bonus. We just do it a little differently than most people.” Along with racing in the NPP Late Model Series during the summer, Midgley is also the promoter of Western Speedway in Victoria, British Columbia. “When we race in the US at various tracks I definitely pay attention to what’s going on. When you run a track you are always learning. Yes I’m here as competitor but I’m also seeing how they run their shows as well.” When the checkered flag fly’s on Saturday night this will be Midgley’s last race of his 2015 season. “This will be it [for my team] for a few months. We are going to be leaving the car here in Tucson and be back in February.” A top 5, or even a victory in Tucson would be the perfect way to wrap up the year for the Midgley and his race team.
