NEW OWNER AND GM FOR EDMONTON TRACK

EDMONTON, AB – For only the third time in its 32-year history a major ownership change has taken place at Edmonton’s Rad Torque Raceway.  On November 2nd it was officially announced that Glen Stenabaugh took over the reins of Alberta’s premier motorsports facility from Rob and Kimberly Reeves.  This track first opened back in 1991 as Capital City Raceway.  In 1998 a group of 10 business owners purchased the facility renaming it Labatt Raceway.  Reeves was part of that original ownership group.  Stenabaugh, the tracks new owner, is also the proud owner and curator of one of Canada’s largest automotive museums.  Yesterdays’ Auto Gallery is a 53,000 square foot museum located in South Edmonton featuring more than 100 vehicles and a 50’s style retro diner.

Team Northern Provincial Pipelines is excited to announce that Darrell Midgley has been named General Manager of Rad Torque Raceway under Stenabaugh’s ownership.  “I started back in July,” admits Midgley, “been working (with Glen) close to 5-months now.”  The Team NPP driver is no stranger to running a motorsports facility.  He was owner/promoter of Victoria, British Columbia’s Western Speedway from 2007 till 2022.  His father Reg Midgley was Western Speedway’s first promoter back in 1966.  Sadly Western Canada’s longest operating race track (opened in 1954) was the victim of urban sprawl and closed at the end of the 2022 season.

Midgley is welcoming his role as GM of the Edmonton track.  “This facility is so vast (oval, drag, road course).  It’s a big job and I’m looking forward to it.”  His view on running a track is fairly simple.  “It’s been about the passion for the sport and trying to grow and do the right things for racers and fans.  We are open for business and open to any ideas.”  The track is currently being prepared for the annual Magic of Lights display which runs from November 23rd to January 6th.  Midgley ironically will not be able to attend the opening weekend of the huge Christmas lights display.  He will be competing in the Team NPP #81 Super Late Model at the 8th annual Turkey Shoot race at Arizona’s Tucson Speedway on November 25th and 26th.
