MIDGLEY FINISHES 5th IN CALIFORNIA

ANDERSON, CA – Sidney, British Columbia’s Darrell Midgley drove his Northern Provincial Pipelines Ltd. sponsored #81 Dodge to a 5th place finish at the US ARMY 150 event at Shasta Raceway in northern California Sunday. This was the 20th consecutive year Midgley has run at one of the richest short track pavement races on the west coast of North America. “It was nice to improve on our finish from last year.” says Midgley who finished 7th in 2007 (Midgley won this race in 2001) “we got rained out on Friday so we had very limited practice time. We maybe had 20 minutes on the track Saturday before qualifying.”

Midgley, the lone Canadian in the field, started Sunday’s 150 lap race in the number 12 spot. “We were real competitive all weekend,” adds Midgley, “temperatures turned hot and that made the track a little greasy in spots but we fought our way to the front. Then it was nose to tail for the last bit of the race.” California’s Steve Gannon was the race winner on his home track. Darrel Midgley is a veteran competitor in the Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series. He finished 7th in the NPP Series point standings in 2008.
