MANUFACTURED BATTLE

EDMONTON, AB. – Not only will the 2010 Season Champion be crowned this weekend in the Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series, the manufacturers title will also be decided. “Dodge has finished on top, three of the last four seasons,” says NPP Series announcer Gord Craig, “last season (2009) Dodge swept the podium. That won’t be happening this year.” Odds are stacked in Chevrolet’s favor this season to take home its second manufacturers crown since 2008. Bruce Broughton and Mike Tom, driving Chevrolets, sit one and two in the current NPP Series point standings with Kevin Wheeler and his Dodge in third.

“These three drivers have never won a NPP Series Championship,” indicates Craig, “so the manufacturer’s battle is probably the furthest from their minds right now.” Just 55 points separates Broughton, Tom and Wheeler heading into this Saturday’s Lucas Slick Mist Season Championship event at Castrol Raceway. Craig notes that Chevrolet has won all the Feature events in 2010. “If a Dodge does not drive to victory lane this Saturday night it would be the first time in NPP Series history (since 2001) that this has happened.” Chevrolet was shut out of the Feature win column during the 2007 season of the NPP Late Model Series.
