EDSON, AB – The Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series is proud to present its tentative schedule for the 2009 race season. “This is the first draft which just might be the final draft,” says NPP Series announcer/media relations director Gord Craig, “there are a few race dates that could be shuffled around but this is very close to what next season will look like.” The 9th season of Canada’s richest touring series on the dirt begins Saturday, May 2nd at Edmonton’s Castrol Raceway and will end 21 weeks later on Saturday, September 26th at the same facility. “This is the home track of the NPP Series,” adds Craig, “pretty well half of the scheduled race dates in 2009 will be competed in Edmonton.” One noticeable change to the schedule for next season is more double race weekends. “We had a lot of single race nights last season. With fuel prices the way they are now, it doesn’t make sense to travel twelve to fourteen hours, race for one night, then come home.” The 2009 NPP schedule will see nine double race weekends. “There will be more weekends off for drivers in 2009 because of the adjustment to the race schedule. It will be quite common next season to race Friday and Saturday nights or Saturday nights and Sunday matinee’s. “Right now the tentative NPP Series schedule includes dates at six Alberta race tracks and one American race track.” Any changes to the tentative schedule will be immediately posted.
