IRONING OUT THE WRINKLES (pt II)

EDMONTON, AB – The facility facelift at Castrol Raceway, the home track of the Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series (since 2001), is nearly complete. The main spectator parking lot and the oval infield have been leveled. The new oval pit area has also been groomed to allow for better drainage during and after periods of inclement weather.

CASTROL RACEWAY FRONT STRAIGHT / OVAL INFIELD

For the past two weeks however the main focus from Prowler Contracting crews has been the Oval racing surface itself. The front and back straights have been re-banked for the first time in nearly 20 seasons.

Some areas of the Oval track have been adjusted higher by nearly three feet. Castrol Raceway officials indicate the re-banking will make the track faster but a lot safer.
