FROST AIMS FOR FIRST AT WMP

VICTORIA, BC (July 7) – Late Model action returns to Westshore Motorsports Park this Saturday night.  Team NPP driver Jason Frost is still smiling after resetting a near decade-old track record at the 2021 season opener last month.  “Everyone has picked up some speed this year.”  A change in track issued tires (Hoosier F45), is getting some of the credit for the added speed.  Late Model teams were at a WMP open practice the night before the season opener.  “We were running laps below the track record,” admits Frost, “I figured we had a chance at it. Whoever was fastest (on race night) was going to snag the record.”  Frosts prediction came true.  The Victoria, BC driver qualified the Northern Provincial Pipelines/The Keg Restaurant #81 Dodge in the number 1 spot with a 16.436 resetting the Westshore Motorsports Park Late Model record.  The old record of 16.63 was held by Wade Bland since September 3, 2011.  Frost wrapped up the 2021 season opener (June 19th) with back- to-back 3rd place finishes in the Late Model twin Features.  “I gotta get a ‘W’ for the #81 car.  That’s the goal this Saturday.”

FROST SETS LATE MODEL TRACK RECORD AT WMP LAST MONTH

There will be a few more eyes on Frost and all the teams this Saturday as Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted for spectator events in British Columbia.  “A full crowd will be allowed in the stands for this race so it will be pretty cool.”  The last event at Westshore Motorsports Park, that had no crowd restrictions, was the Canada 200 race on the September long weekend back in 2019.  “It’s been 22 months. That’s crazy!!”  Near record crowds are expected in the grandstands.  Gates open Saturday at 4:30 with Qualifying at 5:30 and Racing starting at 6:30.
