FIRING UP AGAIN

DRAYTON VALLEY, AB – After a decade of dormancy, the sights and sounds of oval racing is returning to Rapid Fire Motorsports Park. The racing facility, located northeast of Drayton Valley, Alberta, will be re-opening under a new name in 2016. Drayton Valley Speedway president Brandon Murray is excited about the challenge that lies ahead. “A lot of work will be needed to get this facility back-up and running again. There hasn’t been an event here since August of 2006.”

The last event featured the Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series on August 19th and 20th, 2006. Two-time NPP Series Champion Dwight Kennedy won the Feature event both days.

NPP SERIES VISIT TO DRAYTON VALLEY IN AUGUST OF 2006

“The NPP Series is welcome here anytime,” says Murray, “we’re also reaching out to sprint car drivers, modified drivers and street stock competitors. The invitation is open for any race car in Alberta.” Murray indicates one group of racers has already confirmed their commitment to race at his facility. “Officials with the Mini sprints have indicated that Drayton Valley Speedway will be their home track once we open.”
