DEVON, AB – A test of stamina and drive was on display at the 4th annual Devon Turkey Chase Fun Run which took place Thanksgiving Holiday Monday in Devon, Alberta. For the third consecutive year Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series announcer Gord Craig was the official MC of this charity fundraising event. “Our race season may be over but that does not mean we hibernate until next May. There are plenty of activities and events that we can assist and also be a part of.” Organizers and volunteers gathered at the Devon Lions Park along the scenic North Saskatchewan River just after 6:30AM to await the arrival of Fun Run entrants.

“Running and racing cars is similar in a lot of ways,” indicates Craig, “there is the huge adrenaline rush for competitors just before the start of a race. Proper preparation and focus is required to go the distance. Of course there is the celebration if you win the race or if you achieved goals you set before the race.” More than 185 runners of all ages competed in either the half marathon (21.2km’s), 10km or 5km run. “This race just gets bigger and bigger every year,” says Craig, “last year 145 runners participated.” The funds raised from the 2010 Devon Turkey Chase go towards the purchase of five specialized adjustable beds for the Devon General Hospital. Funds from last year’s race went towards the purchase of a targeted ultrasound unit.
