CANADA DAY TOP 10

ELMA, WA – Lane Zerbin celebrated Canada Day in the USA with a 5th place finish at the July 1st IMCA Modified Feature at Grays Harbor Raceway.  The Victoria, British Columbia driver kicked off his race night with a Heat race victory.  Hoping for a similar result in the Feature it was decided that no major adjustments were going to be made to the C-Force Marine/Northern Provincial Pipelines #81 Modified.  The car ran good Saturday night but was just off the pace near the end of the Feature.  “The track was super slick in the main so we really didn’t make any progress from our starting position (7th).”  The track conditions changed extremely fast during the Feature.  “The high line was right up against the wall.  You really had to hustle up there.”  It took Zerbin several laps just to gain even a single position.

“I got up to fourth,” says Zerbin, “then tried to work the middle.”  The setup of Zerbins Modified hampered his performance on this part of the track.  “Once Tyson and Brenton (Schnitzer) got under me they took off.  It was just hang-on and finish as best as I could.”  Team NPP congratulates Saturday nights Feature winner Tyson Cross of Tumwater, Washington.  With his 5th place finish, Zerbin now has two top-10 finishes in only three outings this season in his brand new race car.  “We’re feeling pretty good about our program and where we’re at.  This new car seems pretty good out of the box.”  The Team NPP Modified will now be prepped at the Alien Race Cars shop in Victoria, British Columbia for the next race which is the Shipwreck Beads Modified Nationals on July 14th and 15th.  This race, at Grays Harbor Raceway, is one of the biggest IMCA Modified races on the west coast.  “Its $7,000 to win,” exclaims Zerbin, “hopefully we can get another top-5 or top-10.”  A podium finish would be a huge bonus as well.
