A TOP 10 WEEKEND AT THE NATIONALS

ELMA, WA – Lane Zerbin had an extremely strong outing at the 24th annual Modified Nationals.  “The whole weekend (at Grays Harbor Raceway) was pretty good.  We’ve really come out of the gate at some heavy hitting events.”  The Victoria, British Columbia driver opened the race weekend Friday evening with 4th and 5th place finishes.  The points earned from the Heats locked Zerbin into the Saturday night Modified Nationals Feature event for the first time since 2018.  A special annual race was run Friday night for past track champions and Feature event winners.  Zerbin crossed the finish line 10th in the Race of Champions event.  This was Zerbins first ever top-10 finish in four previous ROC starts dating back to 2017.

Zerbin’s starting position for the Saturday night Modified Nationals 40-lap Feature was 16th.  A 3-wide start however put Zerbin on the inside of row 6.  By lap-5 Zerbin had already cracked the top-10.

3-WIDE START AT GRAYS HARBOR RACEWAY

For a majority of the race Zerbin ran either 8th or 9th.  Zerbin gained a few spots late in the race as several caution flags would fly.  After several late race restarts, Zerbin crossed the finished line in 6th.  Team NPP congratulates Jesse Williamson from Coburg, Oregon for his Saturday night win at Grays Harbor Raceway.  “We’re right there,” exclaims Zerbin, “we just need more races under our belt.  Get some wins and get our name back out there.”  Zerbin has run only five events in 2023.  He has four top-10 finishes in those 5 starts.  His best finish was a 4th at Skagit Speedway back on June 17th.  Zerbin returns to Skagit Speedway this Friday and Saturday for a special mid-season two-night show featuring Sprint Cars and IMCA Modifieds.
