TEAM NPP TRIO AT KENNEDY CLASSIC

BLACK CREEK, BC – The green flag will soon wave at Saratoga Speedway’s inaugural Kennedy Classic 150.  The Super Late Model race runs Friday and Saturday, June 12th and 13th at the Black Creek, British Columbia facility.  Three Team NPP drivers are entered.  Brandon Carlson, Darrell Midgley and Jason Frost will be looking for a share of the over $50,000US prize purse.  The race is named in honor of Alberta business owner, retired race car driver and long time motorsports sponsor and supporter Dwight Kennedy.  “The man has done so much for pavement and dirt racing in Western Canada (and parts of the US),” exclaims Brandon Carlson, “he’s not a guy that likes a lot of recognition but this sport is a better place with him in it.”  Kennedy, owner of Northern Provincial Pipelines in Edson, Alberta was inducted into the Western Canadian Hall of Fame, ‘Builder of the Sport’ category, in 2022.  “I just want to have a good outing and a strong race,” says Carlson, “not just for me but also for Dwight.”  The driver of the Northern Provincial Pipelines/Silver Tiger Mine #81C Dodge says navigating Saratoga Speedway track is not for the weak.  “Car set up is not easy.  You have to compromise a lot.  I call it crisis management.”

Both Carlson and veteran racer Darrell Midgley will be debuting brand new Super Late Models at the inaugural Kennedy Classic. Midgley says there is added pressure running at a race named after the Team NPP owner who’ll be in attendance. “Well my son-in law and daughter run the place so there will be a great social atmosphere for him at the track. I’m not really concerned about that.” The Sidney, British Columbia wants a great finish in the Northern Provincial Pipelines/Silver Tiger Mine #81M Dodge. “We have the best of the best (thanks to Dwight). If there are no results we can’t blame the equipment because we have what everybody else has now.” The tricky racing layout of Saratoga Speedway concerns Midgley the most. “The track has an extra corner. You are on the edge every lap but it’s the same for everyone though.” Midgley last competed at Saratoga Speedway at the 2025 Canada 200 last September finishing 15th in the Team NPP #81 Late Model.

Jason Frost will pilot the third Team NPP entry at the inaugural Kennedy Classic 150. Frost will get behind the wheel of Darrell Midgley’s former Super Late Model which last saw action at Tucson Speedway back in January. The race car, which is currently for sale, was retired from the Team NPP ‘fleet’ after the Arizona race. Family and work commitments have kept Frost out of the driver’s seat the past few seasons. Frost is owner of two Keg Restaurant locations on Vancouver Island. The Keg is an associate sponsor on board both the Carlson and Midgley #81 Dodge Super Late Models.

The Kennedy Classic 150 will be broadcast live on REV TV Canada. The Northwest Super Late Model Series is sanctioning this race marking the first-time the series has sanctioned a race event in Canada.
