3-TIME NPP CHAMP MAY MISS INAUGURAL SASK. RACE

LEDUC, AB – Trevor Emond has had this week circled on his calendar now for nine months.   It’s not the inaugural race in Saskatchewan but a major event a little more closer to home.  “My wife Jen is due any day now,” says the Leduc, Alberta driver, “right now I’m thinking about baby cribs and diapers and not racing this weekend.”  Emond is second in the N.P.P. Late Model Series point’s chase heading into this weekend’s event in Saskatchewan.  “My wife has supported me during the race season, now it’s my turn.  Giving up a race weekend is the least I can do.”  Trevor, son Tyler and a very pregnant Jennifer Emond were at Edmonton’s Castrol Raceway Saturday night for the Monster Truck show.  “I was hoping the rumbling of the trucks would have started something,” laugh’s Jennifer, “looks like the baby will arrive when it wants to.”  Emond adds that his #71 race car will be in Swift Current Saskatchewan this weekend.  “The N.P.P. rule book says points are assigned to the race car and not the driver, so I’m going to take advantage of that”, adds Emond, “I have one driver that has already indicated that he would be willing to help me out this weekend.”  Emond would not divulge the driver’s names but indicated that he does know his way around a full bodied stock car.  “You just don’t hand over the keys to anyone,” laughs the three time N.P.P. Late Model Series champion, “for the record its not Tony Stewart!”  The race in Swift Current is the official halfway point of the season for teams in Northern Provincial Pipelines Ltd. Late Model Series.
