3-TIME CHAMPION EMOND TO RACE OKOTOKS

LEDUC, AB – After a two year sabbatical, a familiar name returns to the NPP Late Model Series this weekend at Rocky Mountain Raceway Park.  Trevor Emond will compete in his first NPP race event since September of 2006.  The 2003, 2004 and 2005 NPP Series champion will not be competing in his familiar #71.  “I’m driving the number five this weekend,” says the Leduc,Alberta driver, “it’s a fill in job this weekend.  I want to thank Kevin (Clark) for the opportunity.  It will be good to drive one of these cars again.  It’s been awhile.  See if I can shake the rust off.”  Kevin Clark won’t even be near the track this Saturday and Sunday.  The Altario, Alberta driver has his annual family reunion and is unable to compete.  “We’ve had our family reunions on the August long weekend for close to two decades now,” says Clark, “I didn’t want the car sitting idle.  Thank goodness Trevor was available this weekend.  Even if it is just for the weekend, its pretty neat to see him back behind the wheel in our Series again.  He will do well.”

Trevor Emond, who has been helping with the chassis set up on Clark’s race car the past several events, is no stranger to the Southern Alberta track.  Emond won a NPP Series race at Rocky Mountain Raceway Park in August of 2005.  He finished fourth at the August 2006 race.  Shortly after the 2006 NPP season (finished 2nd in points) Emond announced he would be taking a little ‘breather’ from racing to spend more time with his family.  In 2008 Emond returned to the racing scene to compete in the ARCA West Late Model pavement Series.  With one win and two seconds, in four scheduled events so far this year in his #17 Glentel Pontiac Grand Prix, Emond sits number one in the ARCA West Late Model point’s chase.
