SEASON PREVIEW: #12 JEFF GRUNDBERG
WHITECOURT, AB – “It’s going to be fun being back behind the wheel of a race car again, “says Paul Grundberg, “this is a new class for me but I saw a great field of competitors the times I was helping out my brother the last two seasons.” The Whitecourt, Alberta driver is taking over the driving duties (car #12) from his brother Jeff Grundberg in 2007. Paul Grundberg is no stranger to racing. He’s also no stranger to the fact that racing is a dangerous sport. Grundberg ran an open wheel sprint car until an innocent looking crash in 2003 nearly paralyzed him. “It was not a serious crash at all (in Edmonton). There was very little damage. It was just the way it landed that caused the injury.” Grundberg suffered a serious neck injury. “Hearing from Doctors that bone fragments were pointing at my spine was not a fun experience for me whatsoever. I had to wear a brace. I was out of commission for a very long time. I do know I’m very lucky to be able to get back in a race car again.” Grundberg is one of 6 new drivers who will challenge for NPP Rookie of the Year honors in 2007. “I’m really looking forward to the season.”
