ZERBIN AT MODIFIED NATIONALS
ELMA, WA – The father and son team of Ted and Lane Zerbin are at the 24th annual Shipwreck Beads Modified Nationals event at Grays Harbor Raceway on Friday and Saturday night. With his dad as crew chief, Lane Zerbin joins more than 40 other drivers for one of richest and largest IMCA Modified events on the West Coast. This will be Zerbin’s toughest test of the season. “The competition is a little bit more stiffer at this race,” admits the Victoria, British Columbia driver, “its over $7,000 to win.”
All teams will run two sets of preliminary heat races on Friday night. Select teams will get to compete in a Race of Champions Feature the same night Zerbin has run the race of champions in the past but will find out Friday afternoon if he is eligible. Championship Saturday night will Feature 24-cars in the 40-lap Feature at the Elma, Washington track. “I know I’ve cracked the top-5 in this race in the past.” Zerbins best finishes at the Shipwreck Beads Modifieds Nationals came in back-to-back years where he finished 5th in 2017 and 6th in 2018. “Hopefully we can get another top-5 or top-10.” Zerbin has just 3-starts this season in his #81 C-Force Marine/Northern Provincial Pipelines #81 Modified. He has two top-5 finishes in those 3 starts.
