TWO TEAMS TWO TRACKS TWO COUNTRIES
VALEMOUNT, BC – Team NPP’s Josh Shuflada grabbed back to back main event wins Saturday and Sunday afternoon at Rocky Mountain Speedway’s RCE Invitational. His trips to victory lane didn’t come easy. The Edson, Alberta driver overcame tricky track conditions both days in the Northern Provincial Pipelines/RCE #81 Dodge. Heat races and trophy dashes were also competed both days at the Valemount, British Columbia facility.
Shuflada won Saturdays trophy dash but spun twice in his Heat race to register his first ever DNF. “We had to completely redo the set up of the car,” exclaims Shuflada, “we put on new tires, adjusted the tire pressure and the car was way better.” Saturdays performance carried over into Sunday. “We finished second in the Trophy dash then won our Heat and the Main.” Team NPP founder Dwight Kennedy was in attendance at the Valemount, BC track on the weekend to watch Shuflada compete. Kennedy competed dozens of times at Rocky Mountain Speedway back in the 1990’s in the #81 Dodge.
ELMA, WA (July 13) – Lane Zerbin wrapped up the Modified Nationals weekend at Grays Harbor Raceway with a 16th place finish Saturday evening. “We were running 11th with 2-laps to go and making a move for 10th and the right rear went flat.” The flat tire ended Zerbin’s hope for his sixth consecutive top-10 finish. The race weekend started off on a good note for Zerbin 24-hours earlier.
The Victoria, British Columbia driver finished 6th in the Friday night Feature. His streak of consecutive top-10 finishes began last month in Roseburg, Oregon.
