TURKEY TIME IN TUCSON
TUCSON, AZ – Darrell Midgley and Brandon Carlson begin their ‘off-season’ this weekend with an appearance at Tucson Speedway. The Arizona track hosts the 10th annual Turkey Shoot race featuring Super Late Models on November 29th and 30th. This will be the first Arizona appearance by Team NPP drivers since January of 2024 (Chilly Willy race). “Timing and circumstance didn’t allow us to attend the last few races (in Tucson),” admits Brandon Carlson, “we were rebuilding Darrell’s car and my new car wasn’t finished yet.” Carlson has run a limited season in 2025 with his brand new Shockwave/Alien Race Cars #14 Chevrolet. He finished third in his debut appearance at California’s Shasta Speedway in October. “Looking forward to getting the new season going and being back at Tucson Speedway again.” In five Turkey Shoot starts, the Victoria, British Columbia driver has had an average finish of 9th. He finished 14th in his last appearance (2023).

Darrell Midgley is ready to strap himself into his Northern Provincial Pipelines #81 Dodge at Tucson Speedway this weekend. “I like this place. I’m comfortable here,” admits the Sidney, British Columbia driver, “things are also trending the right way for us currently.” He finished 9th in his last race at California’s Shasta Speedway the beginning of October. Midgley currently has 8 Turkey Shoots starts. His best finish was second at the 2021 race. Midgley had transmission problems in the 2023 Turkey Shoot appearance and finished 20th.

Team NPP won’t be flying the Canadian flag alone in Tucson, Arizona this weekend. The 2025 Turkey Shoot will feature a record 6 Canadian SLM entries including the defending event winner Kyle Reid from Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Darrell Midgley says there is a simple reason for the increase in Canadian competitors. “For teams that want to race there really is nowhere else you can go this time of the year unless you want to go to Florida. It just makes sense. If you want to race, come to Tucson.” Drivers will have several on-track practice sessions Friday. Qualifying and two 50-Lap Features are scheduled for Saturday evening The Turkey Shoot 125 Feature is set for Sunday.
Team Northern Provincial Pipelines owner Dwight Kennedy is adding bonus prize money to Sunday’s big race. The leader of lap 25, 50, 75, 100 and 124 will receive $1,000.
