TUCSON, AZ – Team NPP drivers Darrell Midgley and Brandon Carlson wrap up their 2019 race seasons this weekend in Arizona.  Tucson Speedway’s annual Turkey Shoot 125 Super Late Model event runs Friday and Saturday night.  Both drivers competed in Tucson last month as a warm-up to the big Turkey Shoot race.  Midgley finished 7th and Carlson finished 14th in the Northern Provincial Pipelines Ltd #81 and #81c Dodge’s.  “I think we will have something for the field this weekend,” exclaims Midgley, “we have found some real good speed (with the cars).”  This will be Midgleys fifth consecutive Turkey Shoot appearance.  One year ago the Sidney, British Columbia driver registered his best Turkey Shoot performance finishing 5th.  “We’ve led laps at this race,” says Midgley, “I think we are due.”  At the 2015 Turkey Shoot, Midgley led close to 50 laps before a tire went down.  Midgley has 7 top-10 finishes including two top-5’s in his last ten Tucson Speedway appearances.

Brandon Carlson will be competing in just his second Turkey Shoot race weekend in the Arizona desert.  The Victoria, British Columbia driver made his Team NPP debut at the 2017 Turkey Shoot where he finished 9th.  “Looking forward to the weekend,” says the Victoria, British Columbia driver, “we made the wrong adjustments on the car (last month) which hampered our performance.  We know what we have to do to get ourselves back in contention.”  In his eight Tucson Speedway starts, Carlson has three top-10 finishes.  “If we can crack the top-5 (this weekend), that would be awesome.  It would be a feather in our cap for sure.”  Carlson claimed his first ever season championship in August winning the 2019 The Keg Late Model Challenge Series at his home track of Western Speedway.

UPDATE: Rain has postponed Night #1 of 2019 Turkey Shoot event at Tucson Speedway.  Track officials say Super Late Model teams will now race on Saturday and Sunday. The original schedule for the race weekend has been revamped.  Team NPP’s Darrell Midgley and Brandon Carlson ready to race.
