TENTATIVE SCHEDULE TWEAKS
EDMONTON, AB – The Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series is one step closer to finalizing its 2014 race schedule. “A majority of our race dates are now finalized,” says NPP Series announcer Gord Craig, “but our long weekend race dates are still written in pencil.” Craig indicates that some major tweaks have been made since the first release of the 2014 NPP Series tentative schedule back in January. “The last two seasons, the NPP Series champion has been crowned at Flatlanders Speedway in Kindersley, Saskatchewan. That won’t be happening in 2014.” For the first time, Central Alberta Raceways will host the season championship weekend for the NPP Late Model Series. “Actually there will be two Alberta racing Series crowning their champions on the September 20th and 21st weekend.” The NPP Late Model Series will be joined by the Xtreme Sprint Car Series at the Rimbey, Alberta race track.
“This facility has come a long way since opening its doors in 2005. Attracting two of the top racing divisions in Alberta says a lot about this facility and the people that run it.” Right now the Canada Day and the Labor Day long weekend race dates remain big question marks for NPP Late Model Series schedule organizers. Also in question is the potential for a return visit to Merritt Speedway in British Columbia on the October long weekend.
“We’re a month and a half away till the start of the race season. Its urgent that these particular race weekends be confirmed.” Craig indicates that NPP Late Model Series race cars could be on the race track in less than forty days if weather conditions permit. “Edmonton has scheduled an Oval test ‘n’ tune for the afternoon of Saturday, April 26th.”
