SUPERB AT SHASTA

ANDERSON, CA – Brandon Carlson finished 3rd and Darrell Midgley grabbed 9th Saturday night at Shasta Speedway.  The Anderson, California racetrack was holding its season finale with the Shasta 125.  Twenty-three Super Late Models were in the pits.  Midgley was 10th quick in qualifying running 15.881 (-0.175).   Carlson was 7th quick running 15.803 (-0.097) in the Shockwave #14 Chevrolet.  Hometown favorite Derek Copeland set fast-time at 15.706 seconds and was the eventual Feature winner. Carlson credited Darrell Midgley for his podium finish on his Shasta Speedway debut.  “I grew up watching him race here.  He took me there and showed me how to get around this track.”  The early part of the 125 lap Feature saw the only Canadian drivers in the field running 1 and 2.  “Darrel and myself were neck and neck and were out front for a good part of the race. Saw him in my mirror a lot.”  Unfortunately Midgley was involved in a multi-car incident just past lap-40.  “I got hit from behind and taken out and had to come from the back.”  Midgley spent the rest of the race battling hard to get back into the top-10. “We were competitive which was nice.”  Midgley has recorded numerous top-10 finishes at Shasta Speedway over the years.  He drove to victory lane at back in 2001.
