SEASON ADJUSTMENTS AHEAD
EDSON, AB – The Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series held their fall meeting Wednesday night. A total of 23 people representing 16 NPP Series race teams were present. “It was a productive meeting,” indicates NPP Series announcer Gord Craig, “we covered a lot of ground and got a lot accomplished.” The meeting started with an overview of the 2009 season then looked ahead to the upcoming 2010 season. Edmonton’s Castrol Raceway, the home track of the NPP Series, set aside 12 of its 14 race dates for the NPP Series to choose from. “It’s the 10th anniversary of the Series next season. The Series ran its first full season in Edmonton back in 2001.” A total of 10 race dates in Edmonton were chosen. “Pretty well all of the drivers were in agreement that a majority of races in 2010 should be run at the home track.” The NPP Late Model Series will once again be traveling to Bridge County Raceway in Lethbridge, Alberta and Central Alberta Raceways in Rimbey, Alberta. Rapid Fire Motorsports Park in Drayton Valley, Alberta has been taken off the 2010 schedule due to track inactivity. One announcement made at the meeting was there will be no American race dates in 2010. It was also announced that the NPP Series would not be the support class for the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series next season. “Castrol Raceway officials decided that the Wissota Late Model class will back up the World of Outlaws in 2010,” says Craig, “I know they will put on a good show like the NPP Series has done the past three years. We wish them well.” No major rule changes are expected in 2010 for the Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series. The current race format and point’s structure will also remain the same for the 2010 season.
