EDMONTON, AB – Planning for the 2015 race season continues for the Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series. More attention is being focused on potential race dates at Castrol Raceway. “Next year is huge for Edmonton’s oval track,” says NPP Series announcer Gord Craig, “this is the 25th straight year of operation for this facility. We are hoping to add a couple extra Edmonton dates to our schedule to help the track celebrate this monumental feat.” Craig indicates there is one race date that can be announced. “The NPP Series is pleased to be the support class for the Gold Cup once again next season.

The Gold Cup, first run in Edmonton back in 1954, is scheduled for Castrol Raceway on Friday and Saturday, July 24th and 25th.” After making its debut at the 1999 Gold Cup, the NPP Late Model has been the support class ever since. “We are looking at as many as six race dates for Edmonton in 2015. Last season we only competed four times in Edmonton.” With additional ‘requested’ Edmonton race dates currently being discussed, officials at Central Alberta Raceways in Rimbey, Alberta have announced that their 2015 oval schedule will be comprised of two-day shows. “No dates have been released by track officials as of yet,” adds Craig, “but Rimbey is moving to a Friday and Saturday night race format for 2015.”

The NPP Late Model Series competed at Central Alberta Raceways first ever two-day oval event back in September. “It was a successful experiment. I know a lot of race teams are happy they are moving to a two-day race format.” Central Alberta Raceways is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2015. The NPP Late Model Series was the first class to compete at the Rimbey, Alberta facility back in 2005. Dinosaur Downs Speedway in Drumheller, Alberta and Merritt Speedway in Merritt, British Columbia are additional tracks that could see a championship points event from the NPP Series in 2015. “We’re also looking at returning to Sangudo Speedway for the second year in a row.”
