PAYING TRIBUTE
BRISTOL, TN – Canada’s DJ Kennington and the Gaunt Brothers Racing team will be competing this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway in honor of the Humbolt Broncos. “It’s an awful tragedy,” says the St. Thomas, Ontario driver, “being a hockey player myself (goaltender) and loving the game, its unimaginable what happened.” A huge Humbolt Bronco’s logo now graces the hood of the GBR #96 Toyota. “Marty Gaunt and I wanted to honor them. The racing community is thinking of them and praying for them.”
This is Kenningtons first appearance at Bristol Motor Speedway in a decade. Kennington has three previous appearances at the Tennessee track in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Those appearances date back to the 2007/08 seasons. His best finish was 29th (August 2008). This will be Kenningtons first start at Bristol in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. The Food City 500 is Sunday.
