NPP TEAMS LOOK TO 2009
EDSON, AB – Race teams of the Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series gathered in Edson, Alberta Wednesday night (October 29th) to discuss the 2008 season and the upcoming 2009 season. “It’s been a month since everyone has been together as a group,” says NPP Series announcer Gord Craig, “there was certainly plenty to discuss.” A total of 27 people were present representing 15 of the 21 teams that competed in the 2008 season. “Participation by drivers and crew away from the race track is crucial,” adds Craig, “the input that is put forward at these meetings is one of the main reasons why this Series is so successful.”
Meeting highlights……
– $257,625 in prize money awarded this season (average of $12,268 per driver)
– 17 completed race events in 2008 (NPP Series record)
– 9 different feature winners in 2008 (tied 2005 NPP Series record)
– the NPP Series website has had over 50,000 page views and more that a million ‘hits’ since going online in May of 2007 (visits up over 150% this season compared to 2007)
– hiring of a flagman and/or race director for the 2009 season was discussed. – the new race format, introduced in 2008, will remain virtually the same for 2009.
– 2009 NPP Season Opener: Castrol Raceway – Saturday, May 2nd
– 16th annual Oilmen’s Invitational to move to August long weekend in 2009 (Aug 1st and 2nd)
