EDMONTON, AB. – The Northern Provincial Pipeline Late Model series will be part of Drayton Valley motorsports history in August.  “This will be the biggest race show ever to hit the Valley,” says event promoter Arvid Fonstad, “Rapid Fire Motorsports Park will be home to three straight days of non-stop racing action.”  The rescheduled dates of the ‘Mega’ Motorsports Spectacular are Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 18th, 19th and 20th.  The NPP Late Model Series will be running on Saturday and Sunday.  “It’s too bad we lost the Fathers Day weekend (due to weather),” adds Fonstad. “but my crew is ready to throw a 3 day motorsports party!  On Friday night we are going to offer up an appetizer of 130mph Sprint car action on the Oval track.  Saturday and Sunday will be the main course, jammed packed with Monster Truck Freestyle, Demo Derby action, Tuff Trucks, and of course high speed Oval racing.  There is something for everyone,” says an excited Fonstad, “we want families to come out and enjoy themselves.  We’ll have a Motorsports Midway with Monster Truck rides, rides in Tanks and other military vehicles, plus live music after racing on Saturday night.  Bring your tent, trailer or motorhome too because your spectator admission on Friday and Saturday includes free camping right at the racetrack.”  The stars of the NPP Late Model Series will once again team up with the stars of the Fountain Tire Alberta Sprint Tour Saturday evening (Aug. 19th).  “This will be a pivotal race for teams in both series,” says veteran announcer Gord Craig, “ironically both classes will have just four events left in their season after Saturday nights race in Drayton Valley.  Racefans will be in for an incredible show.” The NPP Late Model series will wrap up their final 2 day show of the season on Sunday in Drayton Valley before three final events at Edmonton’s Castrol Raceway to close out 2006.
