SIDNEY, BC – The clock continues its countdown toward the start of the 2014 Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series race season. For one NPP Late Model Series competitor however, his motorsports season begins this weekend. Darrell Midgley, the 2009 NPP Series Champion, is competing in the Apple Blossom 125 Super Late Model event at the Wenatchee Super Oval in Washington State. “This is only the second time that I will have raced there,” explains the Sidney, British Columbia driver regarding the Saturday, April 26th event, “I ran in Wenatchee back in the early 1990’s. I can’t remember how I did but I know I didn’t win.” The Apple Blossom 125 is race number two of the twelve event, Tri-Track Super Late Model Series. The Tri-Track Series also runs at Yakima Speedway in Washington State and Hermiston Super Oval in Oregon. “We missed the season opener at Yakima Speedway [April 11th],” admits Midgley, “but we didn’t plan on running the entire Tri-Track season due to our racing commitments elsewhere this summer [NPP Series/Western Speedway].”

Pre-registration shows a healthy car count of about 30 Super Late Models for the Wenatchee race. “Some good drivers will be there that’s for sure. We raced against many of them in Las Vegas last October.” Midgley will be running the same car that he competed in at last year’s Las Vegas race. “It’s a pretty good race car. Our team hopes to be near the front this weekend south of the border.” Along with select pavement appearances in the United States this year, Midgley will also be competing in his pavement late model at his home track of Western Speedway in Victoria, British Columbia where he is also the track promoter. “It’s another busy year of racing!” Midgley also expects to run a good portion of his season on the ‘dirt’ in the Alberta based NPP Late Model Series.
