LONG WEEKEND PLANS
EDMONTON, AB. – Racing on September long weekends has been standard operating procedure for the Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series for the past nine seasons. With no scheduled long weekend race event in 2010 you will have to pardon some drivers for having the “what do I do this weekend” look on their faces. The past two seasons (2008/09) the September long weekend meant a trip to Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Washington. The 2007 September long weekend saw NPP Series teams travel to Bridge County Raceway in Lethbridge, Alberta. Prior to 2007 it was racing at the NPP Series home track of Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta. NPP-RACING.COM asked the top five drivers in the NPP Series Championship point’s chase about their plans for the September long weekend:
#61 Bruce Broughton; Spruce Grove, Alberta – I’m going camping by the lake with my family. Curtis Moore’s (NPP Series driver) family is joining us as well. We are bringing the ski boat and plan on making a few laps of the lake!! Looking forward to a relaxing long weekend.
#55 Mike Tom; Stony Plain, Alberta – Going camping with my family this long weekend. Have a spot by the river already picked out.
#3 Kevin Wheeler; Whitecourt, Alberta – I’m going to help my wife with some yard work. We’re getting geared up for fall and winter around the acreage. There is a mud bog and demolition derby taking place Saturday and Sunday in Edson so I may sneak out on one of the days.
#5 Kevin Clark; Altario, Alberta – We had our family holiday earlier this year. This weekend we will be spending time working on the farm (grain and cattle).
#78 Ken Clark; Edson, Alberta – I plan on spending the long weekend at the lake on the boat…….weather permitting.
