LET’S MAKE THAT A DOUBLE
VALEMOUNT, BC – Team NPP’s Josh Shuflada claimed his second consecutive Super Stock season championship at Rocky Mountain Speedway on the weekend. The Edson, Alberta driver won Saturday afternoon’s Feature and grabbed second in Sunday’s Feature event in the Northern Provincial Pipelines #81 Dodge. Shuflada entered the race weekend with a 34-point lead over McBride, British Columbia’s Joe Rich in the season point standings. Clearwater, British Columbia’s Brad Warner was third just 57-points back.

The only hiccup of the weekend for Shuflada was failing to finish his Saturday afternoon Trophy Dash (non-points). “Shook out the cobwebs early then had a really good weekend.” Shuflada was very happy with how his car ran all weekend. Saturday’s race was competed under full sunshine. Track conditions quickly went dry slick. The Super Stock Feature was completed caution free. Sunday’s race had an almost 2-hour rain delay. “You never get a car figured out 100% with dirt that’s for sure.” Track conditions were tacky on the second day of competition thanks to the extra moisture soaking into the racing surface. “We’ve learned a lot the last couple of years”, explains Shuflada, “we got it pretty dialed-in with the right gearing and tires for the track and the conditions.” Sunday’s race also went caution free in the Super Stock class. Brad Warner won Sundays Feature race. Joe Rich, who led the championship points chase for a majority of the 2025 season at Rocky Mountain Speedway, finished third in Sundays Feature but held onto second spot in the season points chase.

Shuflada had nothing but praise for staff and fellow competitors after the race weekend. “The atmosphere and the people here (Valemount) are amazing. It’s too bad the season is over.” Team NPP owner Dwight Kennedy was in attendance at the Valemount, British Columbia facility on the weekend. NPP sponsored the championship weekend. Kennedy drove his Northern Provincial Pipelines #81 Dodge to several track championships in the 1990’s in Valemount. Kennedy hung up the helmet at the conclusion of the 2015 season. His son Shawn drove the Team NPP #81 Dodge for several seasons. Josh Shuflada took over driving duties at the start of the 2024 season and grabbed his first ever track championship at Rocky Mountain Speedway as a rookie driver. Shuflada’s next scheduled race is the Thanksgiving long weekend at Merritt Speedway in Merritt, British Columbia. The Bill John Memorial Invitational is October 11th & 12th.
