DRAYTON VALLEY DOWN
EDMONTON, AB – A third race weekend at Drayton Valley Speedway has now been cancelled. “No permits, no racing,” exclaims track president Brandon Murray, “we are cancelling our two-day show on the Canada Day long weekend.” The NPP Late Model Series was hoping to open its 2018 season in Drayton Valley on June 30th and July 1st but is now seeking an alternate venue. Murray says after the cancellation of the May 26/27 and June 6/7 scheduled dates, officials from the county reached out hoping to smooth things out. He’s hoping to have permits in hand by the middle of July which will be too late for the July 21/22nd race dates. “We are going to aim for the August 18/19 race dates but I’m not holding my breath.” The cancelled Drayton Valley event means the option of the NPP Late Model Series competing at Sangudo Speedway which is scheduled to run the same race dates (June 30/July 1). NPP Series officials hope to have confirmation from Sangudo Speedway track officials by the end of the week.
