EDMONTON, AB – The big melt is finally taking place at Castrol Raceway and Central Alberta Raceways.  “Winter definitely overstayed its welcome this year,” says Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series announcer Gord Craig, “the roads are nice and dry getting to the tracks but once you step onto the facilities you can still see remnants of a long winter and recent spring snow storms.”  Craig visited two of the tracks the NPP Late Model Series will be competing at in 2018.

“There is a bit of a race as to which track will dry out first.  Right now I think Edmonton has a slight lead as far as a lack of snow on the ground.”  Central Alberta Raceways has scheduled an oval test and tune for May 5th.  Castrol Raceways oval test and tune runs May 12th.

Craig did not visit Drayton Valley Speedway in person which is another facility the NPP Series will be competing at in 2018.  “Drayton Valley didn’t schedule a test and tune this year however the track did send me a few pictures.  As far as snow on the ground, it looks like its somewhere in-between Edmonton and Rimbey.”

The NPP Series is scheduled to return to Drayton Valley Speedway on the Canada Day long weekend.  The 2018 NPP Series season opener is May 25th and 26th at Central Alberta Raceways.  The NPP Series returns to Castrol Raceway in July.
