EDMONTON, AB – Two Castrol Raceway competitors are hitting the books at a northern California race track this weekend. Edson, Alberta’s Crystal Kennedy and Altario, Alberta’s Danielle Clark aspire to be honor students at the Jimmy Sills racing school in Marysville, California. It’s an intense three day course with classroom and on-track lessons in an open wheel sprint car. “This is going to be huge,” says Kennedy, “its going to give me a lot more confidence in a full bodied car.” Kennedy, who just turned nineteen last month, is a regular competitor in the Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series.

Kennedy finished 13th in the points chase in 2008. “From reading the track to setting up a car, there is so much we are going to learn.” Kennedy will be joined by ’Bud’ Stock competitor Danielle Clark. Clark just completed her first full season in a stock car finishing 6th in the point chase in Edmonton. For both drivers you don’t have to look far to find out where the need for speed came from. Crystal’s father is two-time NPP Series Champion Dwight Kennedy. Danielle’s father is also an NPP Late Model Series competitor. Kevin Clark was the 2006 NPP Rookie of the year. Race school for both Crystal Kennedy and Danielle Clark begins Friday and will wrap up late Sunday afternoon.
