ARIZONA RETIREMENT

TUCSON, AZ – Team Northern Provincial Pipelines drivers Darrell Midgley and Brandon Carlson were not in a talkative mood following the 13th annual Chilly Willy 150.  Both Midgley and Carlson retired early from the big race Sunday afternoon at Tucson Speedway.  Midgley, who already had suffered major engine problems in practice on Thursday, retired on Lap 61 and was credited with a 32nd place finish.

NEVER A GOOD SIGN WHEN THE HOOD COMES OFF

Brandon Carlson ran as high as 3rd Sunday afternoon but suffered engine issues of his own and pulled into the pits and retired from the race on Lap 87.  He would finish 25th.  Carlson’s race weekend did start off extremely strong.  The Victoria, British Columbia driver finished 5th and 6th in his Friday and Saturday 50 Lap warm-up Features.  Sidney, BC’s Midgley missed his Friday night 50-lap Feature due to his engine issues and finished 16th in the Saturday race.

STRONG SHOWING FROM CARLSON FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND HALF OF SUNDAY

Ironically both Carlson’s and Midgley’s race cars are now officially retired after the Tucson race.  Two brand new cars have been ordered from Port City race cars.  They are expected to make their debut sometime in the spring.

Team NPP congratulates Lake Oswego Oregon’s Kole Raz on his Chilly Willy 150 victory at Tucson Speedway.  Top Canadian was Leduc, Alberta’s Tyler Emond who finished 15th.

NOTE: Team NPP driver Lane Zerbin makes his Arizona debut at the IMCA Modified Winternationals at Central Arizona Raceway on January 21st (practice January 20th).
