EDMONTON, AB – The 2009 Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series tentative schedule, which was released back in November, is close to being finalized. “There are four race dates which are still written in pencil,” says NPP Series announcer Gord Craig, “securing the second night of racing in Elma, Washington is of most importance right now.” The NPP Series is tentatively set to run September 5th and 6th at Grays Harbor Raceway. “Racing in Elma Saturday night is a go. We are trying to secure a spot on Sunday night’s race schedule.” Grays Harbor Raceway hosts their annual Big ‘E’ race weekend on September 5th, 6th and 7th. The NPP Late Model Series made its American debut in Washington State in 2008. “We had a blast down there,” adds Craig, “it was a definite highlight of our season last year.” The other NPP scheduling dates that need to be addressed are in Edmonton and Drumheller. “Castrol Raceway is still awaiting word if they will be playing host to a big monster truck show on the last weekend of September. Because of this track management told us (back in December) they are tentatively moving the oval championship night to September 19th. This date could change back to September 26th.” The final scheduling issue involves the new track in Drumheller. “Talking with organizers last week, they hope to have the oval track operational by the May long weekend.” The NPP Series has tentative dates booked for Drumheller which are part of two Southern Alberta road trips this summer that would also see events at Bridge County Raceway in Lethbridge. “The plan is to race in Lethbridge Saturday night (June 27th and August 15th) then head to Drumheller for two Sunday afternoon races (June 28th and August 16th).”
