2009 NPP SCHEDULE FINALIZED
EDMONTON, AB – The Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series has finalized its 2009 schedule. “The goal was to make this years schedule more family friendly for race teams,” says NPP Series announcer Gord Craig, “we were aiming for a one weekend on and one weekend off style format so teams could have some family time away from the track. I think that has been accomplished.” The 2009 NPP Late Model season features 21 race events at seven tracks. For the second year in a row, the NPP Late Model Series will travel south of the border and compete in the United States. Grays Harbor Raceway (Elma, Washington) will host the NPP Late Model Series for two nights in September as part of their Big ‘E’ race weekend. “This race (Elma) was a major highlight last year that’s for sure,” says Craig, “I know a lot of NPP drivers are happy to see it back on the schedule again this year.” The NPP Late Model Series has scheduled four Southern Alberta road trips in 2009 with stops at Bridge County Raceway (Lethbridge), Dinosaur Downs Raceway (Drumheller) and Rocky Mountain Raceway Park (Okotoks). “There are more double race weekends on the schedule this season,” adds Craig, “for example, in June and August we will race in Lethbridge on a Saturday night, then pack up and drive the three hours north to Drumheller for a Sunday afternoon race.” The Drumheller Ag. Society celebrates the grand opening of its brand new oval track in May. The NPP Late Model Series race teams will also compete at Central Alberta Raceways (Rimbey) and Rapid Fire Motorsports Park (Drayton Valley). Half of the scheduled race events for 2009 will be campaigned at Castrol Raceway (Edmonton), the home track of the NPP Late Model Series. “The NPP Late Model Series debuted in Edmonton back in 2001. You won’t find a bigger supporter of racing at Castrol Raceway than Northern Provincial Pipelines.”
