EDMONTON, AB – The Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series is another step closer to officially finalizing the 2009 race schedule. “We secured our American race dates today (Wednesday)”, says NPP Series announcer Gord Craig, “for the second year in a row we will be competing at Grays Harbor Raceway on the September long weekend.” The NPP Late Model Series made its American debut in 2008 at the Big ‘E’ race weekend in Elma, Washington. “We raced Saturday and Monday night in Elma last year. This year we will be racing the ‘Big ‘E’ on Saturday and Sunday night instead.” Castrol Raceway has also confirmed that the 2009 Championship night will be run on September 19th. “There was the possibility of it being moved to September 26th,” adds Craig, “that won’t happen now as the home track of the NPP Series will be hosting one of the biggest monster truck shows to ever hit Edmonton.” Only one scheduling issue remains and that involves two race dates at the new track in Drumheller. “We have several southern Alberta road trips planned for this season. There are two stand alone race nights confirmed at Bridge County Raceway in Lethbridge on Saturday June 27th and August 15th. The goal is for two Sunday afternoon races at Drumheller’s new facility on the same weekends. I’m pretty confident these race dates will take place.” The Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series celebrates its 9th season of racing action in 2009. The season opener is Saturday May 2nd at Edmonton’s Castrol Raceway.
